FAQ – ARE YOUR PRODUCTS SAFE TO USE ON RESIDENTIAL WATER TANKS?

The waterproofing membrane product that we apply to the inside of water tanks when they are being repaired or refurbished is safe to use on tanks that hold potable drinking water and the product we use doesn’t affect the taste of drinking water.

When repairing a tank that holds potable drinking water, it’s always really important to ensure that any product that is being used on the tank is not going to compromise the stored water quality.

Maintaining a clean drinking water supply is difficult enough during warmer months of the year when tanks run dry, but it’s equally important that any products we use on your water tank during repair are also safe to use.

Our tank repairer Ken uses a liquid waterproofing membrane that is approved for use on potable drinking water tanks.

We have been using TWS’s products for many years and find that they are reliable. To find out more about this product, you can visit the manufacturers website TWS (Total Waterproofing Solutions).

When it comes to working on the inside of a concrete tank, the work area can be quite restricted depending on the size of the tank you are working on and the access point. Ken has been trained and assessed to work in confined spaces, so he understands the risks of working with these types of products in enclosed spaces.

One question that is often asked is, ‘can I repair and waterproof my tank myself?’ The answer really depends on the level of experience a person has, but we strongly recommend that you employ the services of an experienced professional to undertake the work for you to achieve the best results. Poor application can lead to the waterproofing membrane failing, which almost always results in a poor outcome and costly experience for the home owner.
